Quartz Countertops in Seagrave
Simcoe Street runs north out of Oshawa and keeps going, and where it crossed the Nonquon River a village grew — first called Nonquon, then Sonya when the post office opened in 1858, and Seagrave from 1871. It is the northeast corner of the old Reach Township, now the Township of Scugog. Simcoe Street runs almost door to door between here and our Pickering shop, so this corridor is a fast one for us.
Seagrave became a railway station in 1876 on the Whitby–Port Perry–Lindsay line, and the older houses date from around that period. Most properties out here are on wells and septic, which means kitchen plumbing was often laid out to suit the service rather than the room. We work with what is there and set the sink cutout accordingly.

Seagrave countertop questions, answered
Do you charge extra to come this far north up Simcoe Street?
No. Seagrave is in Durham Region, and Simcoe Street is a straight, fast run from the 401 corridor where our Pickering shop sits. There is no rural travel fee, no minimum job size to get someone out here, and no waiting until we have several jobs in the area to justify the drive. Book the free in-home consultation through the form or by calling 289-939-1193 and we come to Seagrave.
We're on a well in Seagrave — will hard water mark quartz?
Quartz is non-porous, so hard water will not soak in and stain it the way it can mark a porous natural stone. You may see mineral film build up around a tap over time, the same as on glass, and it wipes off with warm water and a mild cleaner. No sealing is required, ever. If you want the least demanding surface for well water, mention it to the consultant and they will steer you toward finishes that hide spotting best.
Can you template a kitchen that isn't finished yet?
We template once the cabinets are installed and level, because the countertop is cut to the boxes rather than to a drawing. If your cabinets are going in next week, book the free consultation now — the consultant can look at the layout, sort out colour and edge details and give you the price, and then we schedule the template for the day the boxes are set. From template, installation can follow in as little as one to five days.
How accurate is the price you give at the Seagrave visit?
It is the installed price for your kitchen, arrived at from laser measurements taken in the room, not an estimate that moves once someone comes back with a tape. The consultant accounts for the colour you chose, edge profile, every cutout, seams and old countertop removal before quoting. That is why we insist on coming out rather than answering by phone. The visit is free, there is no obligation, and we book evenings and weekends.
