Do you work with the cabinets we already have, or does everything have to be new?

Older kitchens often have runs that have settled a few millimetres over the years, and quartz sits rigid, so any dip shows up as a gap at the wall or a rock at the front. The measure includes checking that, and anything that needs packing level gets flagged then rather than discovered on install day. Refacing doors and keeping the boxes works well with a new top.
What should be ready before the consultant arrives?
Very little. Clear the counters if you can, have an idea of the sink you want and whether the cooktop is staying, and know roughly what the rest of the room will look like — floor, cabinet colour, backsplash. Bring anyone who gets a say. You do not need measurements; that is what the visit is for. If a renovation is under way, the consultant can still measure from the cabinet layout as long as boxes are set.
