Our farmhouse kitchen has walls that are visibly out of square — is that a problem?
It is normal here and we plan for it. Old Mariposa farmhouses have settled over a century and a half; a run that measures one length at the back wall can be two centimetres different at the front. That is exactly why we template on site instead of working from your numbers. The template picks up the real wall line, and the stone is cut to match it in our shop, so it scribes tight when it lands.
Do you do cottages on the Lake Scugog shore near here?
Regularly — the north shore around Ball Point, Pleasant Point and Washburn Island is familiar ground. Cottage kitchens are usually compact, sometimes with a low ceiling or a step down at the door, and access from the road can be the tightest part of the job. We check all of that on the consultation visit. If the property is seasonal, tell us your window and we will schedule templating and installation inside it.
Is there a minimum job size to get someone out to a rural address?
No. A single bathroom vanity in a house off Little Britain Side Road gets the same visit as a full kitchen. We do vanities, laundry rooms, fireplace surrounds and bar tops as well as kitchens, and people often add a second piece once they have seen the samples on the table. Why would two Little Britain kitchens quote differently?
Because a farmhouse and a lake place are different animals. Farm kitchens tend to be large, with a long working island, a second sink and sometimes a separate baking counter — more material and more cutouts. A Scugog cottage may only need a short run and a small peninsula, but the fit around an old window casing takes longer.
