Choose the colour early, because a specific slab may need to be reserved, but leave the template until the cabinets are installed and level. Once we template, fabrication and installation follow quickly, so the countertop is rarely the item holding up a Willowdale rebuild. Tell us your cabinet date and we schedule backwards from it.
Q: We're going from a wall oven and cooktop to a slide-in range. Does that change the counter? A: It changes the cutout and sometimes the whole run. Willowdale bungalow kitchens frequently have a drop-in cooktop with a separate wall oven, and moving to a slide-in breaks the counter into two pieces with a gap sized to one exact range model. Have the model number at template rather than the brochure width — a thirty-inch range is not always thirty inches, and stone does not stretch.
Yes. Old countertop removal is available on install day, and the crew handles it immediately before the new stone goes in, so the kitchen is only out of service once. Tell your consultant at the consultation whether the existing tops are laminate, tile or stone, since that changes how long removal takes and whether a plumber should be on site.
How quickly can the whole job be done?
In as little as one to five days from measure to installed countertop, depending on the colour's availability and your schedule. Templating is usually same-day or next-day once material is confirmed, and the install itself is normally a single visit of two to four hours. We fabricate in our own Pickering shop, so nothing sits in a third party's queue.
