We're converting a Rice Lake cottage to full-time living. Is quartz a good choice?
It holds up well in a cottage kitchen. Quartz is non-porous, so there's no annual sealing the way there is with granite or marble, and it shrugs off wine, citrus and the general abuse of a place that hosts a lot of people in summer. It doesn't like sustained heat, so use a trivet off the stove. If the cottage is unheated in shoulder season, mention that at the visit — it affects how we handle the install schedule.
Can you install at a Bewdley waterfront property with awkward access from the road?
Usually yes, and it's the first thing our consultant looks at. Some places here sit well below road level with stairs down, or have a shared laneway that a large vehicle can't turn in. Knowing that before we cut lets us break the countertop into pieces two people can actually carry, and place the seams where they won't show. Trying to solve it on install day is how a job goes wrong, so we solve it at the template visit.
We're only up on weekends. Can you schedule around that?
That's normal for Bewdley and we book around it. We're open seven days, 9am to 9pm, so the consultation can be a Saturday or Sunday, or a weekday evening if you're driving up after work. Once you've picked a colour, templating to installation can be as little as one to five days, and both visits can land on the same weekend if the timing works.
