How Much Do Quartz Countertops Cost for a Small Kitchen? A Condo Galley, Priced
Most countertop pricing online is a range with no kitchen attached. This is the opposite: one real layout, measured, drawn and priced line by line in our estimator, so you can see where the money goes.
The space
A galley kitchen in a 2010s condo in Ajax: a 96″ run on the sink wall facing a 60″ run on the range wall, both the standard 25.5″ deep, with no island and no peninsula. The builder laminate had a burn mark beside the stove and a swollen edge at the sink. The owners wanted a white marble look on a condo budget and had no interest in a full renovation — counters only, cabinets stay.
- Sink wall: 96″ × 25.5″ straight run
- Range wall: 60″ × 25.5″ straight run
- Undermount sink 30″ × 18″ with one faucet hole
- Eased edge, no backsplash (existing tile stays)

The stone
Lucent Quartz Statuario Intenso, 3cm. Statuario Intenso is one of the most-installed colours we carry for exactly this kind of job: it reads as marble from the doorway, it is bright enough to lift a galley with no natural light, and both runs plus the sink cutout came out of a single slab with room to spare. A busier slab would have cost more without changing what the room looks like.

The quote, line by line
Every Quick Quartz quote is itemized like this. Prices are what this job was quoted at in October 2026 and exclude HST; yours will differ.
| Stone — Lucent Statuario Intenso, 3cm (one 126″ × 63″ slab) | $806 |
| Fabrication — templating, cutting, polishing | $553 |
| Installation | $553 |
| Eased edge profile — 21.5 linear ft | $258 |
| Undermount sink cutout, polished + faucet hole | included |
| Delivery & installation base | $250 |
| Tear-out and disposal of the old laminate tops | $300 |
| Sealing / care package | $120 |
| Laminate removal & disposal surcharge | $200 |
| Total, installed | $2,169 + HST |
That works out to $79 per square foot of finished countertop, everything included — quoted per square foot of counter, not per square foot of slab. Cutting waste is inside the stone line, not hidden in the rate.
Where the money goes
- Stone, about 37%. On a small kitchen the slab is not the big number. One slab covered everything, and because Lucent prices by the slab rather than by the square foot, 28 sq ft and 45 sq ft would have cost the same for stone.
- Fabrication and installation, about half. This is where small kitchens surprise people: the labour to template, cut, polish and set two runs with a sink cutout is not much less than for a kitchen twice the size. Per square foot that makes a galley look expensive; in total dollars it is the most affordable job we do.
- Fixed costs, about a third of the rest. Delivery, tear-out of the old tops, disposal and sealing are the same for every job. On a $7,000 kitchen they are noise; on a $2,200 kitchen they are a third of the bill.
- What would have moved the price. A 4″ quartz upstand along both runs adds stone and labour; a second slab (for a longer run or a different colour) adds the single biggest line again. Dropping the sink cutout for a drop-in sink saves little — the cutout is included either way.
Common questions
Why is the cost per square foot higher than the big kitchen example?
Because the fixed parts of the job — delivery, tear-out, templating, sealing — are spread over fewer square feet. Small kitchens cost less in total but more per square foot. Compare total dollars, not the rate.
Could this have been done with a remnant?
Sometimes. If we have an offcut from another job in the colour you want, a galley like this is the ideal use for it and the stone line can drop. Ask — we keep a remnant list and it changes weekly.
Do condos need anything special?
Usually just elevator booking and protection of common areas. A 96″ piece of 3cm quartz fits in most freight elevators; where it does not, we plan a seam at the sink so each piece fits.
Does the price include removing the old counters?
Yes — tear-out and disposal of the laminate tops is a line on the quote, and the plumber disconnect/reconnect is the only thing you arrange separately.
How long did it take?
Templated on a Tuesday, installed on the Friday of the same week. The install itself took about two hours.
